I'm fundraising to...

help homeless pets find their best friend!

When it launched in 2004, the PetRescue website was the first of its kind in Australia, and since then, it has been the connection for over 860,000 rescue pets and their new families.

PetRescue’s adoption platform gives pets the best chance to find a home by bringing thousands of homeless pets face-to-face with tens of thousands of potential adopters every day. And the best part is, all PetRescue website services and adoption support programs are free and accessible to all rescue members and pet lovers alike.

Will you suppawt us?

Together we can find a home for every pet that needs one!

My Updates

Finding my little stuffed Olive

I always knew when the time came that I wanted a rescue dog. People have a lot of preconceived ideas about how a ‘rescue’ dog looks and acts, or how much work they might be compared to a breeder bought dog. Finding PetRescue showed me just how diverse the dogs that end up in care can be.

I had been looking for about a month, with the mantra of “the right dog will be ready for me at the right time”. Knowing that eventually I’d be living in an apartment, I had limited my search to dogs listed as small. For some reason on this fateful day, I clicked the medium tab and up popped a listing for ‘Punkin’. As a life long spaniel lover, I was immediately smitten and quickly sent the profile to my mum to get her take. Always one to be honest with me when I get carried away, her reaction of “stop it she’s gorgeous” was enough to make me shoot a message off to the fosterer. Two days later we were driving up the Central Coast to meet her.

Of course for me it was an instant yes, but I promised to sleep on it. The next morning at 8am I confirmed with her foster mum that I would like to take her. One busy week of ordering all the necessary puppy bits (plus a name change) later and she was in the back seat of my best friends Prius on her way home.

The foster mum told us that she thought she was a cockalier - half cav half cocker, but after having her for a few days we thought that couldn't be right. We ordered a PetDNA test and turns out she is a straight-coat Cavoodle! You'd never know it from looking at her and there isn't a trip to the dog park where someone doesn't ask her breed.

It hard to put into words what having Olive in my life has done for me. After my family dog passed away, I really struggled with the grief of my childhood companion. While Olive could never replace her, she has certainly mended my broken heart.
